Sheriff announces closings for New Year's holiday The Wayne County Sheriff's Office will be closed on Saturday, December 31 and Monday, January 2 for New Year's. The last day to pay your 2005 property tax without any penalty is December 31, so this deadline will be extended to January 3 when the office re-opens.
