DIABETES CLASS

Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal.

People with diabetes have problems converting food to energy. After a meal,

food is broken down into a sugar called glucose, which is carried by the

blood to cells throughout the body. Cells use the hormone insulin, made in

the pancreas, to help them process blood glucose into energy. There are two

main types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. If diabetes is left uncontrolled,

a number of complications can occur and greatly affect how one lives. If you

would like to learn more about diabetes, please call 1-800-928-4416, ext.

162 and ask for Angie to find out when the next diabetes class will be in

your area.
