C Battery is back on U.S. soil

Members of C Battery are back on U.S. soil and are preparing to return

to Kentucky.

Specific orders for the local National Guard unit had not been received

at press time, but members of the Family Support Group indicated the troops

will likely be home Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The local unit departed Iraq on Thursday, January 12, with the last

flight out of Anaconda at approximately 6 p.m. The soldiers were in Kuwait

until Saturday when they headed back to the states.

According to members of the Family Support Group, the National Guard

unit flew into Baltimore, Maryland on Sunday, January 15. Their flight was

originally slated to land in New Jersey, but was diverted because of snow.

The troops were then taken by bus to Ft. Dix that afternoon.

More specific information about the soldiers' return to Monticello is

expected to be released mid-week. Family members indicated the unit will fly

into Louisville, but specific transportation details back to Monticello had

not been determined at press time.
