Abbott is sentenced on drug trafficking charges A Wayne County woman has been formally sentenced to three years in prison on drug trafficking charges. Kathy Abbott, 46, appeared in Wayne Circuit Court on Tuesday, June 6 and received the sentence for four counts of second degree trafficking in a controlled substance. On two occasions during January 2005, a confidential witness for Operation UNITE purchased amphetamines from her, according to UNITE prosecutor David Dalton. At sentencing, Circuit Judge Vernon Miniard, Jr. ruled that Abbott's three-year sentence must run consecutively with a 12-month misdemeanor sentence Abbott previously received for possession of a controlled substance.
