Juvenile detained following recovery of stolen vehicle
A 17-year-old male juvenile was detained following the recovery of a stolen vehicle. On Saturday, June 19 at 2:36 a.m., Monticello Police approached a vehicle that had stopped at Lyons Plumbing on Highway 3106.
The operator exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Following a brief pursuit, the juvenile was apprehended. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 1998 Ford Explorer, had been stolen from Michigan Avenue in Monticello.
The juvenile was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300 and fleeing or evading police first degree. He was lodged in a detention facility in Adair County.
