Officials are seeking a Russell County man for questioning in connection with the robbery of the local BB&T Bank that occurred on Wednesday, June 30.
Photos of Ronald Wade, 50, were released by investigators on Thursday, July 8, after he was identified by a photo lineup in connection with the local bank robbery, as well as one that occurred five days earlier at Cumberland Security Bank in Pulaski County.
Monticello Detective Sheridan Wright said that Wade has an active escape warrant with the U.S. Marshalls Office in Nashville. He walked away from a halfway house in Nashville on July 1. Wright noted that Wade had been serving on work release and had been working with a construction crew in a minimum security setting.
Wade had been incarcerated in 1994, in connection with six bank robberies that occurred in Tennessee, and was nearing the end of his sentence, according to investigators. He is described as a white male, approximately 6’2” and weighing 180 pounds. He may be in the company of Cindy Lee Anderson, 47, a white female with dark hair and a medium build, and Luther Self, 32, who is 5’8” to 5’10” and has a dark complexion.
The break in the case came late last week, when Wright and Wayne County Sheriff James Lynn Hill, who have been assisting Kentucky State Police with the bank robbery investigation, received a tip from Russell County authorities. Throughout the course of the investigation, local authorities have investigated several similar tips that they received after photos from the BB&T robbery were circulated among local and state media.
The local BB&T robbery occurred on June 30 just before 1 p.m., when a man armed with a handgun, wearing sunglasses and a hat, entered the bank and demanded money. He left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Monticello Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department both responded to the scene within minutes, and Wright praised the cooperative effort of the agencies. He noted that county officers set up outside the bank and secured the perimeter.
City officers separated the witnesses inside the bank and then began conducting interviews. Photos from the video tape at the bank were available within an hour and were circulated to media sources around the state.
Anyone with information about Wade or his companions are asked to call local officials at (606) 348-9313 or Kentucky State Police at (606) 878-6622. Officials indicated that the three should be considered armed and dangerous.
