A Wayne County 4-H Trap Shooting Teams compete at state event

The Wayne County 4-H Trap Shooting Teams traveled to Berea, Kentucky on Saturday, July 3 to compete in the State Scholastic Trap Shooting competition.

There were four teams competing from Wayne County. The Senior Experienced team placed fourth in their division. There were two Junior Experienced teams from Wayne County. Team #1 placed second and team #2 placed third.

The Rookie team captured first place in their division. Matthew Neal placed first in the Individual High Shot in the Rookie division and Matt Catron placed first in the Individual High Shot in the Junior Experienced division.

By placing first, second and third in the competition this makes the Junior Experienced teams and the Rookie team eligible to compete in the National Scholarship Competition in Vandalia, Ohio August 12 and 13.

The National competition is sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

The teams will be doing fundraisers to help with expenses to compete at the national competition. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. For information about donations please contact Sherry Kelsay at 348-6887, Tammela Parris at 1-800-400-1108, or Sherri Catron at 340-3171.
