Mill Springs Battlefield has been awarded funding

The Mill Springs Battlefield in Wayne County has been awarded $7,500 in funding for wayside exhibits, according to an announcement made last week by the Southern and Eastern Kentucky Tourism Development. Funds for Community Development projects in the Cumberlands Corridor were made available through efforts of Congressman Harold Rogers as part of the “Company’s Coming” initiative.

Southern and Eastern Kentucky is divided into nine multi-county travel corridors, representing groups of counties based on particular highways. Each corridor consists of teams of volunteers from counties, cities, tourism organizations, historical societies, and local businesses that meet on a monthly basis to implement projects that promote tourism and economic development. The Cumberlands Corridor is made up of Clinton, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, and Wayne Counties.
