A Clinton County man accused of the wanton murder of an Ohio man who was killed in a two-car collision in Monticello last month was arraigned in Wayne Circuit Court Tuesday, August 3.
Billy Tallent, who appeared with his attorney David Cross, entered a plea of not guilty to charges of wanton murder, second degree assault, and three counts of wanton endangerment first degree.
The charges were filed in connection with a traffic collision that occurred July 14 at the intersection of KY 90 and Highway 1275 that left 21-year-old Ricky Gentry dead. According to the indictment returned by the Wayne County Grand Jury last month, Tallent allegedly committed the offense of wanton murder “when under circumstances of extreme indifference to human life he wantonly operated his vehicle in a manner which created a grave risk to another and caused the death of Ricky Gentry.”
A police report indicated Tallent was traveling at an excessive rate of speed through the intersection and disregarded a traffic control device.
