Andrews pleads not guilty to Medicaid fraud
Melodie Phelps
News Editor

A former Monticello dentist was arraigned in Wayne Circuit Court Tuesday, August 3 on multiple charges of Medicaid fraud. Andrews, who remains incarcerated in the Wayne County Detention Center, appeared with his attorney Frank Muscagni II and entered a plea of not guilty.

Bond for Andrews had been set at $200,000 cash and Muscagni requested Tuesday that the court release Andrews on a $50,000 cash bond which had been posted on a previous indictment involving drug-related charges also associated with his former dental practice in Monticello.

Muscagni told Circuit Judge Vernon Miniard, Jr. that Andrews is no longer practicing dentistry and that he owns two properties in this county—a home and his former office building.

Miniard denied the request to release Andrews on the previously posted bond and maintained a $200,000 cash only bond in connection with this case.
