JOHN O. SMITH Jun. 10, 1915-Aug. 9, 2004 John O. Smith, age 89, of Springfield, Ill. passed away Monday, August 9, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born June 10, 1915 in Monticello, Ky., the son of the late Cal and Lytha Blevins Smith. He married Lexie Alley on December 24, 1937, who preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters-Thelma Chaney and Alma Gillespie, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers-Harold Smith and Earl Smith, both of Monticello, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was two brothers-Nonnie and Howard Smith; and two sisters-Willa Mae Webster and Hazel Bell. He was a retired tester from Ford Motor Co. He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Friday, August 13, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bennie Fisher officiating. Burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastview Baptist Church. Staab Funeral Home of Springfield, Ill. in charge of arrangements. Add a comment |
