Atkinson charged with promoting contraband
A local woman was arrested for promoting contraband, according to Jailer Ray Upchurch. Jennifer R. Atkinson, 32, was charged with promoting contraband first degree after she was brought into the Wayne County Detention Center. Upchurch reported that deputy jailers doing a routine search discovered some pills, later identified as Xanax. The evidence was turned over to Wayne County Sheriff James Lynn Hill who presented the case to the Wayne County Grand Jury. An indictment was returned against Atkinson.
