Sweet charged with assault
A Wayne County man was arrested on felony charges related to a stabbing incident that occurred earlier this month. According to the Monticello Police Department, they investigated a stabbing that occurred on Dugan Street on Saturday, August 14.
Following an investigation, police arrested Johnny Sweet, 29, on a warrant for first degree assault. He was also charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, disregarding a stop sign, speeding, no operators license, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving a peace officer a false name, no insurance, refusal to submit to a blood test, and no seat belt.
He was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
