The restriction on the use of inmate work crews remains in place at this time, according to Wayne County Jailer Ronnie Ellis. Ellis provided an update regarding the program, which provides inmate labor to various organizations in the community.

He said that the Kentucky Department of Corrections and the Kentucky
Jailers Association have decided that they are not going to allow
jails to start their inmate work release programs at this time.
The situation will be re-evaluated every couple of weeks so that
work release protocol can be put in place so the programs can resume.
Ellis indicated that as soon as the state allows jails to resume the work release programs, local crews will be out and working.
