Park Board discusses work on Kiwanis Field

Wayne County Outlook

Monticello — The Monticello-Wayne County Park Board met in regular session on Monday,

October 15 and discussed the work that is going on at Kiwanis Field II,

which is commonly known as the old t-ball field.

The fence has been removed at the field and work on the sidewalks is

expected to begin soon. Park officials are waiting for information about

grading the field to eliminate the water problem near the backstop.

Work should also begin soon to fix the bleachers and the roof.

The board got some good news as they learned that their grant

application for the construction of new restrooms has been approved.

The Governor's Office for Local Development (GOLD) has given the Park

Board $75,000 to construct the new facility.

Board members said they would like to see work begin as soon as

possible, so the facility can be completed by March, when many activities

begin at the park.

The board has also applied for a CDBG grant and expects to hear

something about it by February or March.
