9-26-12 — Two brothers accused of murdering an elderly man near the Wayne-Clinton County line last week surrendered to Kentucky State Police on Friday night, September 21 at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Phillip M. Roberts, 33, and Thomas A. Roberts, 38, had been eluding law enforcement for more than 24 hours, as warrants were executed for their arrests following the Thursday, September 20 death of James F. Perdue, 73. The address for both of the Roberts brothers was listed as 1009 South, Monticello.
Kentucky State Police Post 15 units responded to a residence on Perdue Road in rural Clinton County near the Wayne County line on Thursday. Perdue was found dead at his residence by a friend at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Warrants were issued for the arrest of the Roberts brothers shortly after that. Both have been charged with murder.
An autopsy was conducted on the victim on Friday, and preliminary results indicated that Perdue died as a result of blunt force injuries to the head, neck and chest area and multiple stab wounds.
KSP Detective Russell Decker is heading up the investigation.
