5-1-13 — Senate President Robert Stivers recently appointed State Senator Sara Beth Gregory (R-Monticello) to The Council of State Governments'
Suggested State Legislation Committee.
The Council of State Governments, a national organization based out of Lexington, Ky. encourages multi-state problem solving, develops leadership skills, and fosters collaboration among all three branches of state government.
The Suggested State Legislation Committee oversees the Suggested State Legislation Program, a series of compilations of draft legislation of current importance to states.
As a member of the committee, Gregory will identify, review and disseminate state legislation on topics of major interest with the goal of sharing innovations in state governance.
"This is a great opportunity to learn more about what other states around the country are doing, and to bring the best of those ideas back to the Commonwealth," said Gregory.
The Council of State Governments is a non-partisan organization, founded in 1933, to promote excellence in state government through the exchange of ideas and policy information. Its members are from all three branches of the fifty states and five territories.
