1-11-12 — The Monticello Utility Commission will pay a portion of an appraisal
fee for property the city recently purchased for the water and sewer
plants, following action taken by board members during their regular
meeting last Thursday, January 5.
According to Gene Jones, manager of the utility commission, the city
received interim financing for the purchase of some property in the
Mill Springs area which will be used for a new water plant. He added
the city also recently purchased property that joins the sewer plant
for future expansion. However, Jones said the city did not receive
enough money in the interim financing to cover the full cost of the
appraisal fee and asked the utility commission to pay $400 on that cost.
Following discussion, board members voted to pay the $400 on the
appraisal fee.
In other news, Jones informed board members that the Strawberry
water tank was cleaned recently, and once it was put back in service
it started leaking. He noted that it is scheduled to be repaired this
week.
In other action, the board:
• was informed that utility commission employees will be receiving
new uniforms.
• heard departmental reports for the month of December.
