Monticello — Following is a look at the 2009 Monticello Volleyball Team with comments

from Coach Benji Burchett.

1. Briefly talk about your upcoming season?

  This season will be an exciting one for our squad. The girls have been

working hard to improve their individual skills as well as building a

cohesive team dynamic.



2.  What do you like best about your ¹09 team, or what would you

consider as a strength at this point of season?

A strength for this group of young ladies would be their focus on

consistency and dedication to improvement. 

3. What is your biggest concern or concerns about the upcoming season?

Our biggest concern lies in the need to keep all players healthy and

injury free. Group energy and dynamics can suffer once a player is taken out

by an injury/illness so that would be our primary concern.

4. Any key players expected to contribute that deserve special mention

and what do they provide the team?

This will be the first year in recent history that we have senior

players.  They will be playing a key role in team leadership both on and off

the court.  Another note worthy subject is the dedication shown by our

newest recruits. Our freshman team this year is comprised of 6th and 7th

graders. They¹ve truly worked hard and are excited to be facing high school

opponents.



5. Talk about your schedule and goals for the season?

We¹ve always approached each new season as one of excitement and

learning. Every game presents new challenges to be overcome and new lessons

to learn. Currently, our schedule is packed with tough competitors. Our goal

is to meet each challenge and rise above all while learning and expanding

the strengths of our program.
