10-6-10 —     The Wayne County High School Golf Team concluded their golf season

with the regional competition held September 28 at Crooked Creek

Country Club in London.

The team finished 11th out of 24 teams with a team score of 355 at

the Region 10 Golf Tournament, under the direction of Coach Shane

Blevins.

Austin Kirksey and Steven Hall had the low rounds for the local team

with both students scoring 86. Carson Staples shot a 90 followed by

Corbin Kirksey with a 93 and Zach Hicks with a 100.

The Wayne County High School Golf Team finished the season with a

match record of 10 wins and 10 losses. "We had a decent season,

considering we had a young team. Two of our players had never played

varsity golf before."

"Our team is only losing one senior – Zach Hicks," said Coach

Blevins. "Zach has played on the team since sixth grade. We certainly

appreciate all of his contributions and will definitely miss him next

season."

The middle school golfers also played in the middle school state

tournament in Louisville on Saturday, October 2. The middle school

team finished third after the event was shortened just to nine holes

because of rain. Congratulations to those players which included:

Trey Blevins, Carson Staples, Corbin Kirksey, and Dakota Bell.
