1-18-12 —    The Monticello Trojans traveled to northern Kentucky Friday, January  

6 for a game against Covington Latin. The trip included two-games for  

the Trojans over the weekend and it was played at Silver Grove.

    The Trojans put together one of their best offensive performances of  

the season, as they defeated Covington Latin 71-53.

    Monticello trailed 15-10 at the end of the first quarter and 31-29  

at the half. The Trojans came out in the second half firing, as they  

scored 20 points in the third quarter and held Covington to only 8  

points. Monticello held a 49-39 lead going  into the fourth quarter.

    The Trojans scored 22 points in the final quarter to take the win.  

Senior Adam Coffey scored all 13 of his points in the second half of  

the game.

    The Trojans were led by senior forward Aaron Perkins with 20 points.  

Also in double figures was senior guard Kevin Simpson with 16 points.

    Covington Latin had only one player in double figures. Junior guard  

Mitchell Blewett finished with 35 points.
