Monticello — A swap meet for fishing bait and tackle, boat accessories and hunting
equipment is set for Saturday, March 20 at the National Guard Armory in
Monticello. This is a fund raiser for anti-drug activities that are
sponsored by Wayne County's Defensive Action Against Drugs (DAAD).
Doors will open at 9 a.m. and the swap meet will conclude at 3 p.m.
Admission to the event is free.
Mark Gintert, the National Youth Director for The Bass Federation, will
be speaking to the group at 11 a.m. on Saturday. He will be talking about
The Bass Federation's Youth Program and the national movement to bring high
school fishing into make states as an approved sport.
There are several states, including Illinois, Alabama, Tennessee, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Montana, and Missouri, who are working hard to
bring fishing programs to their respective states.
Part of the discussion will be how local schools can start the process
to bring the program to Kentucky.
Anyone who would like to rent a table for the event should contact Ricky
Kempton at (606) 348-3016 or at (606) 307-7401.
