The man accused of firing a weapon in the bathroom of the Wayne
County Hospital has been indicted by a local grand jury.
Robert Lewis Lowe, 41, was indicted on two counts of possession of a
handgun by a convicted felon, fourteen counts of wanton endangerment
first degree, public intoxication and persistent felony offender
first degree. The indictment was returned by the Wayne County Grand
Jury on Tuesday, August 15.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred in the emergency
room of the Wayne County Hospital on August 7. Police responded to a
report of a male possibly high on meth and in possession of a handgun.
Lowe was located in the bathroom adjacent to the Emergency Room.
While officers were attempting to make contact with him, a single
gunshot was heard from inside the bathroom.
After Lowe was taken into custody, officers recovered two handguns,
one spent cartridge case and one spent bullet. No one was injured in
the incident.
Lowe remains lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
