Enhanced 911 is now live

Monticello — Enhanced 911 service in Wayne County is now live, according to Wayne

County Judge-Executive Greg Rankin. The project, which started just over two

years ago, was able to officially go live earlier this month and is

available throughout the county.

"This is great news for our county and to be live ahead of schedule says

a lot about the efforts of all the people involved. The system will cut down

on response time for all emergency services and ultimately save lives. We

have a very hard-working and knowledgeable Telecommunications Supervisor in

George Penick. His work the past few months has helped keep our operation

costs down, while moving the project forward," said Rankin.

The Enhanced 911 Dispatch Center is located in the Monticello Police

Department, located on Main Street in Monticello.
