Two are arrested for having meth lab Wayne County Outlook
Monticello — Two people were arrested on Tuesday, July 28, after local law
enforcement officials received information about methamphetamine being
manufactured by a Wayne County man.
According to Wayne County Sheriff Charles Boston, the Lake Cumberland
Area Drug Task Force received information that Tracy Hurt had manufactured
methamphetamine.
Agents conducted an investigation into the information and contacted the
sheriff's office. Deputies observed and attempted to conduct a traffic stop
on a 1991 Ford Explorer when the vehicle failed to stop at two posted stop
signs in Monticello.
Deputies activated their blue light and the vehicle sped up, passing
another vehicle on a double yellow line on KY 92. Deputies said they
witnessed the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Hurt, throwing an
unknown item from the driver side window.
Once the vehicle was stopped, deputies approached the vehicle and asked
Hurt to exit it. They said that when Hurt got out of the vehicle he
attempted to destroy a small bag of unknown white substance by placing it on
the ground and stepping on it.
Deputies attempted to prevent him from destroying the baggie and after a
confrontation, Hurt was placed under arrest. A search warrant was obtained
for the vehicle and several items were located in the vehicle which is
consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
Hurt was charged with manufacturing metehamphetamine first degree,
tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance first
degree, disregarding a stop sign and fleeing and evading.
A passenger in Hurt's vehicle, Janisha Danielle Muse, was arrested for
several active warrants from Wayne County, Fayette County, Pulaski County
and Rockcastle County.
Both were transported to the Wayne County Detention Center. Deputies
were assisted by the Monticello Police Department. The investigation is
continuing and more arrests are expected.
