4-20-11 — There will be no appeal bond for the woman convicted last year of
murder.
Hope White, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder
of Julie Hicks Burchett, has filed an appeal of that verdict, which
was handed down by a local jury in April 2010.
In January 2011, White filed a motion for an appeal bond to be set
in the case. She asked that a $25,000 property bond be set while the
appeal is being considered. She also noted that she would agree to
home incarceration if the appeal bond was set.
Circuit Judge Vernon Miniard, Jr. held the hearing on White's motion
on Monday afternoon. Fol-lowing the hearing, Miniard denied the motion.
