Monticello School to have additional nurse on staff

There will be an additional nurse on the staff at Monticello

Independent. During their regular monthly meeting Monday evening, October

19, board members approved the final working budget for the 2009-2010 year,

which includes the funds to cover the school's portion of the cost of hiring

another nurse.

The school is taking advantage of a program offered through the health

department that will add another nurse to the staff at a reduced cost to the

school.

During last month's meeting, board members asked Superintendent Donnie

Robison to check into the program offered through the health department, and

they also authorized the expenditure of funds necessary to cover the

school's portion of the cost for this service.

Robison noted that through this program the school can hire another RN

to assist school nurse, Sandy Latham.

In other news, Robison informed board members that the 21st Century

Program at Monticello Independent has received a Program of Excellence award

for being one of the top 21st Century programs in the state.

In other action, the board:

€ discussed the allotment for the middle school athlete meals. Board

members discussed this matter during last month's meeting but decided to

table the matter until this month. They once again talked about the matter

Monday evening and asked that a budget of the athletic funds be presented to

the board later.

€ heard reports on results from the No Child Left Behind Act and the

Kentucky Performance Report.

€ approved the PSD F-10-6 salary schedule for the 2009-10 school year.

€ was informed by Superintendent Robison during this report that he had

sent an email to the state highway department requesting that the blinking

lights and signs on Columbia Avenue be changed to 7:20 a.m.

€ approved two individuals as emergency substitute teachers and approved

the personnel report.
