LELA JONES TUCKER

Lela Jones Tucker, age 79, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 after an

extended illness.

She was born October 10, 1929, the daughter of the late Gilson Pearson

and Rachel Worley Jones.

On December 18, 1945 she united in marriage with her husband of 62

years, George Tucker, who passed away July 11, 2008.

To this union 10 children survive-Marie Clark, Lonzo Tucker, Wilma Rose,

Estelle Phillips, Margaret Tucker, Joyce Branscum, Geraldine New, Teresa

Tucker, Josephine Gregory and Bernice McGuire; 33 grandchildren; 35

great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters-Lora Maxwell

and Nina Cotterman; and one brother-Paul Jones.

She was preceded in death by three infant children-Brenda, Helen and

Larry; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-Nova and

Ava Woods; and her brother-Silas Jones; and several half brothers and half

sisters.

Lela had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was a member of the

Lower Turkey Creek Baptist Church where she remained faithful as long as her

health allowed.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 3, 2009 in the funeral home

chapel. Burial followed in the Isaac Tucker Cemetery.
