Commonwealth Cleanup is March 22-28 Wayne County Outlook
Monticello — Wayne County will participate in Commonwealth Cleanup set for March 22-28, according to an announcement made by Wayne County Judge-Executive Greg Rankin and Solid Waste Coordinator Tim Bell.
The week is a chance for volunteers to make a difference in their local communities and help improve the scenic beauty throughout the county.
"We are excited to participate in this program and continue to work to educate our citizens on the opportunities available in the county. Our recycling program, dump site cleanups and roadside litter projects continue to be successful and we hope this week is a good kickoff to our spring season," said Rankin.
The Solid Waste Coordinator's Office, located on the first floor of the Wayne County Courthouse, has all the tools for volunteers who are ready to help. The office will provide gloves, bags, and safety vests, plus help individuals with any questions they may have.
"Commonwealth Cleanup needs volunteers and we ask any group that may have an interest to give my office a call or stop by," said Bell. "Spring is a very busy time, but the change in weather also allows a chance to get out and work on roadside litter, plus this will kind of kick off PRIDE Month in April. We want and appreciate anybody that would like to participate in this program, plus we will give them all the supplies they need."
For more information, contact Bell at (606) 348-4241 or call (606) 307-5065. You can stop by the courthouse located at 109 North Main Street.
