According to Monticello Police Chief Ralph Miniard, the warrants for Christopher Matt Dillon Lewis, 19, and Brian King, 30, are in connection with the November 22, 2009 burglary of the Senior Citizens Building in Monticello.
Miniard said that among evidence collected at the crime scene was DNA evidence.
He said that evidence was submitted to the Kentucky State Police Laboratory for examination and comparison with the DNA of a suspect.
He noted that the turnaround for DNA evidence of 11 months is not unusual.
"Unlike CSI, we do not have access to laboratory equipment that will provide DNA results in a matter of minutes," explained Miniard. "Actually such equipment does not exist and CSI is Hollywood fantasy at its finest. The ‘CSI' effect is becoming a problem nationwide with people serving on juries in criminal trials and expecting reality to reflect what they have seen on CSI and similar television programs and movies."
Both Lewis and King are charged in the warrants with third degree burglary.
Anyone with additional information regarding this case is asked to contact Monticello Police Detective Derek Lester at (606) 348-9313.
