Monticello — Jeffrey Darrell Dishman was sworn in as District Two Magistrate on
Friday, January 29.
Dishman was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear to complete the term of
his father, Darrell Dishman, who passed away on January 24 after a lengthy
illness.
Several members of the Dishman family attended the ceremony, which was
held in County Judge-Executive Greg Rankin's office. Jeffrey Dishman's
mother, Ruth, held the Bible, while he took the oath of office.
Dishman will serve as District Two Magistrate through the November
general election, when voters will decide who will serve in that capacity
for the next term.
Dishman, a democrat, is a candidate for the seat.
Following is a statement released by Dishman last week.
"I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers through the
illness and passing of my father, Darrell Dishman. I was given the honor of
fulfilling his duties and the remainder of his term as Magistrate of
District Two. I would like to express my gratitude for this opportunity to
serve all the people of the district as we work toward a better tomorrow for
Wayne County," stated Dishman.
"I would also like to thank the officials in Frankfort for giving me the
chance to carry out the work that meant so much to my father," he continued.
"I further wish to encourage all the citizens of District Two to call me
should you have concerns or needs. Once again, it is with honor and
diligence that I serve in this capacity. Thank you and may God bless each of
you."
