9-29-10 —     Students at Monticello School made gains in most tested subjects on

the spring Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT), according to a press

release issued last week by school officials.

The KCCT is used to determine if schools make Adequate Yearly

Progress (AYP) in reading and math for the Federal No Child Left

Behind (NCLB) report by giving students an Annual Measurable

Objective (AMO) they must meet. In addition, the KCCT tests students

in the areas of science, social studies and on-demand writing.

High school students made gains in all five areas of the test, with

the largest gain in reading, which increased the number of students

scoring proficient or distinguished by 13 percent. The school met

seven of its 10 AYP goals on the NCLB report for 70 percent.

Middle school students made gains in four of the five tested areas,

with the largest gain in social studies, which increased the number

of students scoring proficient or distinguished by 18 percent. The

school met 9 of its 10 AYP goals on the NCLB report for 90 percent.

Elementary school students made gains in three of the five tested

areas, with the largest gain in on-demand writing, which increased

the number of students scoring proficient or distinguished by over 19

percent. The school met 10 of its 10 AYP goals on the NCLB report for

100 percent.

In Kentucky, 73.9 percent of elementary schools, 35.2 percent of

middle schools and 15 percent of high schools met all their NCLB

goals. Monticello Schools will add links to the school web page so

that parents can view the entire No Child Left Behind report and

Interim Performance Report for the district.

Superintendent Donnie Robison stated that he is "very pleased with

the improvements that occurred on the spring test." He went on to

commend the students and staff for the hard work and stated that he

is "excited with all of the positive things that are going on at

Monticello School that are in addition to the well received scores."
