11-17-10 — Plans are currently being made for the 2010 Monticello-Wayne County Christmas Parade, which is set for Friday, December 3 at 6 p.m. The
annual parade officially kicks off the holiday season in Monticello, with floats and entries that light up the evening event.
This year's theme is "A Lake Cumberland CHRISTmas," and Paul and Katherine Dunnington have been selected as Grand Marshals.
This marks the 40th annual Christmas Parade in Monticello and it
will again be broadcast live on the local cable channel.
Everyone interested in participating in the parade is encouraged to
enter as soon as possible. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place float entries in each category—Best Business,
Best Academic, and Best Civic/Non-Profit.
First prize will also be awarded for Best Decorated Wagon.
The entry deadline is November 26.
The Chamber is also sponsoring the annual Holiday Decorating
Contest, which is open to residences and businesses located on Main
Street. Two $100 prizes, sponsored by the City of Monticello and the
Wayne County Fiscal Court, will be awarded in the contest.
There are two categories in the contest—residential and business.
Registration for the decorating contest is free and the deadline to
enter is November 30.
For more information on the parade or the decorating contest contact
the Chamber office at (606) 348-3064.
