Monticello — Wayne County's Junior Miss, Kinly Bertram, was among 34 high school
seniors from across the state who gathered in Lexington last week in hopes
of becoming Kentucky's Junior Miss.
Bertram turned in a great performance that won her a preliminary talent
award and placed her first runner-up in the program. Kentucky's Junior Miss
is a scholarship program that is 52 years old.
Over the course of the week-long competition, Bertram earned $3,800 in
cash scholarships and thousands of dollars in college-offered scholarships.
This was the highest placement by a Wayne County representative since 1972,
when Carol Ann Tate won Kentucky's Junior Miss and placed second runner-up
at America's Junior Miss.
Bertram is the daughter of Sharon and David Bertram and a senior at
Wayne County High School.
