Monticello — He had eluded authorities for weeks after allegedly robbing and
assaulting a local businessman, but that ended last Friday, when police
arrested Tommy S. Bell, 40, on a warrant for robbery, burglary and theft by
unlawful taking. He was taken into custody in Lexington, according to
Monticello Police Chief Ralph Miniard.
Police had been searching for Bell since the January 25 robbery and
assault of Pierce Troxell, who operates The Hair Den on Michigan Avenue.
Two men reportedly entered the shop and took a quantity of cash from
Troxell, as well as his automobile.
The car was found later in McCreary County.
According to police, Bell was armed with a handgun during the incident.
Troxell suffered several injuries and was taken to the Wayne County Hospital
for treatment.
Miniard said that Lexington Police, acting on information provided by
the Monticello Police Depart-ment, located Bell on Friday, March 12, and he
was taken into custody without incident.
He was returned to Monticello and lodged in the Wayne County Detention
Center late that day.
