Monticello — The rush to file to run for local office in 2010 has slowed to a trickle over the past week.
Only three candidates filed last week, according to information from the Wayne County Clerk's Office.
That brings the total number of candidates so far, including those who have filed with the Kentucky Secretary of State, to 34.
Two candidates have joined the race for District Two Magistrate.
James Dooley Stinson, a democrat, and Roger K. Blevins, a republican, have filed for that seat.
There are three other candidates who had previously filed in that race.
Former magistrate Ricky Worley, a republican, has filed for the District Three Magistrate's seat.
Two other candidates have filed so far in that race.
There is still plenty of time for prospective candidates to get their paperwork in order.
The deadline for filing as a candidate for races that will appear on the May 2010 primary ballot is January 26 at 4 p.m.
