Monticello — A third candidate has joined the race for Wayne County Judge-Executive.
Jerry R. Sloan, a republican, filed as a candidate in that race on Monday, January 11, according to Wayne County Clerk Josephine Gregory.
Sloan, a former District One Magistrate, will face republican Ken Upchurch in the primary election in May.
Incumbent County Judge-Executive Greg Rankin has filed for re-election and is the only democratic candidate so far in that race.
Gregory also reported that Tyler G. Huff, a republican, has filed as a candidate in the District Four Constable's race.
James Nevels, a republican, has filed as a candidate for District Three Constable.
James E. "Jim" Holbert, a democrat, has filed as a candidate in the 5th District race for the U.S. House of Representatives, according to the Kentucky Secretary of State's Office.
That brings the total number of candidates for the 2010 election to 51.
The deadline for filing as a candidate for races that will appear on the May 2010 primary ballot is January 26 at 4 p.m.
