The court must receive the budgets from the departments by April 1,
as the county's budgeting process for Fiscal Year 2020-2021 continues.
Also during the meeting, the court approved a resolution authorizing
the application for a Homeland Security Grant. Wayne County EMS will

Wayne County Emergency Management Director Bubby Corder updated
magistrates regarding the COVID-19 situation. He said one of the
early steps in this process has been making sure that the local
medical community has an adequate amount of personal protective
equipment (PPE).
A shipment of the gloves, masks and gowns were receive last week and
have been distributed among health care providers in this community.
Corder said a smaller load has been delivered this week and that
equipment will also be distributed in the medical community.
He added that the Wayne County Tech Center has been making masks
that can we used by health care workers, using their 3-D printing
capabilities. They can make 40 to 50 of the masks per day.
Corder stressed the importance of social distancing at this time, as
well as people staying at home. He noted that the ambulance service
is taking extra precautions with decontaminating personnel and
equipment each time they complete a run.
He asked that the public be patient with dispatchers when they call
the 911 center for an emergency. Dispatchers are asking a few more
questions when they receive a call in order to provide as much
information as possible to EMS workers who are responding.
Wayne County Judge-Executive Mike Anderson told magistrates that a
community health COVID-19 meeting was held at the health department,
bringing together representatives from different medical facilities.
He noted that each medical group shared their practices and that they
all had systems in place to handle patients.
They talked about possible plans for the next 30, 60 and 90 days.
There are plans to continue for the group to continue to communicate by conference call.
