The first day of school for local students is just two weeks away,  and Wayne County Schools is gearing up for a great new school year.

    With the merger of the local school districts, the summer has been a  

busy one, as whole schools have been moved because of the new grade  

configuration.

    In order to help students and parents prepare for new places and new  

faces, Wayne County Schools will host orientation at each grade level  

in the district.

    Following is the orientation schedule:

Walker Early Learning Center

    Preschool Orientation (Morning Group)—August 5, 5-6 p.m.

    Preschool Orientation (Afternoon Group)—August 5, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

    Kindergarten (Last Names Beginning with A-M)—July 30, 5-6 p.m.

    Kindergarten (Last Names Beginning with N-Z)—July 30, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Bell Elementary

    First Grade—August 1, 5-6 p.m.

    Second Grade—August 1, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Monticello Elementary

    Third Grade—July 29, 6-8 p.m.

    Fourth Grade—July 30, 6-8 p.m.

    Fifth Grade—August 1, 6-8 p.m.

Wayne County Middle School

    Sixth Grade—July 29, 6-8 p.m.

    Seventh and Eighth Grades—July 30, 6-8 p.m.

Wayne County High School

    Ninth through Twelfth Grades—August 1, 3-7 p.m.
