OZIE PHILLIPS

Ozie Phillips, age 88, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Wayne County Hospital.

He was born October 8, 1921 in the Phillips Hollow, the son of the late Fount and Polly Whitehead Phillips.

He was united in marriage with Elvena O. Phillips, who preceded him in death on November 21, 2000.

To this union seven children survive; three daughters-Ina Gedek, Claire Casada and Beulah Martin; four sons-Thomas, Stanley, Andrew and David Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his children-Glenn, Jackie and Shirley; siblings-Ollie Godsey, Thomas, Ernest, Osburn and Obie Phillips.

He was the last surviving member of the Fount Phillips family.

He had accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Leroy Hammond and Bro. J.S. New officiating. Burial followed in Phillips Cemetery.
