    Alta Cooper, age 94, of Monticello, Ky., passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at her home.

    She was born January 20, 1916 in Monticello, Ky.; the daughter of the late Leroy and Victoria (Houston) Smith.

    She married Cecil Cooper, who preceded her in death.

    She is survived by two sons-Paul (Josephene) Cooper and Danny (Kellie) Cooper;  two brothers-George (Norma) and Fred (Grace) Smith; four grandchildren-Ross (Elizabeth) Cooper, Hazel (Jeff) Woods, Dina Maerene (Tim) Pyles and Scott (Effie) Cooper;  five great-grandchildren-Tiffany (Chris) Bowlin, Chandra (Joe) Kempton, Maria  Cooper, Kira and Kelci Pyles;  three great-great grandchildren-Mackenzie Cooper, Makalya Bowlin, and Kylie  Kempton.

    She was preceded in death by one child-Hershel Cooper; and 17 brothers and sisters.

    Funeral services were held May 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Gary Campbell, Bro. Jimmie Dishman, and Bro. Charles E. Dick officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
