Vela Correll New was the loving wife of 64 years to Ernest Russell New.

She was the dear mother of Charlene (Terry) Holmes and the later Roger New. The devoted grandmother of Heather Lynn Stotler, David Roger New and Jacob Russell Holems. The proud great grandmother of Ian, Hannah and Blake Stotler. Beloved sister of Maxine Young and the late Dorthy Nevels, Ova Denney, Lonnie Tucker, Myrtle Hill, Ardith Stephenson and Tildon Correll.

She was the loving mother-in-law of Carina Vogt.

She died peacefully at her home on March 13, 2010 at the age of 81.

She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Services will be held on Wednesday March 17, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home.

Internment at Rose Hill Cemetery Mason, Ohio.
