6-23-10 — Dec. 27, 1987-Jun. 6, 2010

    Michael E.  McGahan, age 22, of Orlando Fla.  was killed in action in Eastern Afganhastan, Sunday, June 6, 2010 when his platoon was attacked by small arms fire.

    2nd Lt. McGahan was born in West Hills, Calif. on December 27, 1986.

    He married his high school sweetheart Miranda Tsukamoto McGahan this past November prior to his deployment.

    He was a graduate of Olympia High School, where he was a two time captain of the Titan soccer team. He then went on to graduate from the University of Fla. in 2008 with a degree in Political Science, and a minor in History.

    He is survived by his parents-Timothy and Carolyn McGahan; his brother Max McGahan; grandparents-Katy and Sam McGahan, all of Orlando Fla.;

    He is preceded in death by his great grandparents-Vida and Benton Edwards.

    A memorial service and celebration of Michael's life was held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Orlando Fla.

    Burial will be held at Arlington Cemetery, at a later date.

    In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the St. Luke's United Methodist Military Missions Team in his name.
