The Monticello Lady Trojan 7th grade basketball team competed in the

McCreary Co. 7th grade Invitational tournament September 22.

The Lady Trojans were unable to defend their title from last year as

they were defeated in the championship game by the host team, McCreary Co.

by the score of 43-31.

The Lady Trojans began the tournament by defeating East Bernstadt 32-13.

Jessica Hardin led the Lady Trojans in scoring with 15 points followed by

Sarah Miller's 12 points.

In the second game, the Lady Trojans defeated Burgin 39-16. Jessica

Hardin led the team with 10 points.

Due to a team arriving late, the Lady Trojans played East Bernstadt

again and defeated them 37-16 to advance to the championship game. Jessica

Hardin again led the team in scoring with 11 points.

In the championship game the Lady Trojans got off to a slow start being

outscored 13-6 in the first quarter and never could recover.

The Lady Trojans were lead in scoring by Jessica Hardin and Mikayla

Sexton with eight points each.

The Lady Trojans record for the season is 7-5.

Western Quarter Horse Show will be Friday

There will be a Jackpot/Added Money Contest horse show at the

Monticello-Wayne County Memorial Park, Friday, October 12. Training will

start at 5 p.m. (EST) and the show starting at 7:30 p.m. (EST).

There will be 14 classes consisting of 4-H Barrels and Poles with added

money, Pee-Wee Barrels and Poles, Youth Barrels and Poles, Jr. Barrels and

Poles and the big classes of 3-D Poles and a 3-D or 4-D Barrels with added

money in every class.

There will also be two fun classes, Flag Race and a Stake Race with

added money.

Come out and watch young and old with fast turns and fast horses as they

compete for the money.

There will be a gate admission with a portion of the proceeds to help

with Cub Scouts in the county.
