Wayne County Fiscal Court opened bids for stone and sand during a
special meeting, which was held on Thursday, April 22.
The court had been experiencing problems getting stone for work
being done in the county and opted to go ahead and rebid for the
products.
Four bids were received Thursday. They were from Gaddy's Shamrock,
Albany Quarry, Denney Brown and Bassett Stone.
After opening the bids, Wayne County Judge-Executive Mike Anderson
recommended that the court approve all the bids, so that the county
could purchase from the most feasible and cost-efficient option.
These bids will remain in effect through the end of the fiscal year,
which is June 30.
At that time, the county advertises for bids for products and
services for the next fiscal year.
Anderson also noted that the court would likely meet again in
special session on April 29, so that magistrates can receive a copy of the budget for the next fiscal year.
